Trains of Green & White Mountains

Day 1: A summer get-a-way to the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire will feature five different train rides along with other special attractions. Today we travel to Vermont and visit Hildene, the family home where 3 generations of Abraham Lincoln’s family lived. This 24-room Georgian Revival mansion features original furnishings, Lincoln family artifacts, gardens and even a 1000-piece pipe organ. There is also a 1903 Pullman Palace Train Car that will allow you to see how the rich and famous traveled at the turn of the century. We spend the night at the lovely Middlebury Inn in Middlebury, Vermont. Tonight, you will be our guests for a delicious dinner at the resort. (D)

Day 2: Following breakfast, we travel to the grand Omni Mount Washington Hotel for a self-guided tour and a fabulous luncheon. Later we will take an unforgettable ride on the Mount Washington Cog Railway and enjoy the spectacular views atop the mountain. Dinner will be included at a popular local restaurant. (B, L, D)

Day 3: We travel to the lake region of New Hampshire and board the MS Mount Washington on a scenic luncheon cruise of Lake Winnipesaukee. Following the cruise, it’s all aboard the Winnipesaukee Railroad for a train excursion along the lake’s shores. Dinner will be included at a popular local restaurant. (B, L, D)

Day 4: We travel along the scenic Kancamagus Highway and board the Conway Scenic Railroad’s “Notch Train”, an excursion that boasts some of the most dramatic natural scenery in the region. A boxed lunch will be served while on the train. Our final excursion of the day will be on the Café Lafayette Dinner Train, where we savor a delicious meal while traveling through the White Mountains. (B, L, D)

Day 5: We depart our resort this morning and travel to Connecticut for our final ride on the Essex Steam Train. We return home in the evening. (B)
