Mackinac Island and the Tulip Festival

Day 1:  We are off to one of America’s most colorful spring festivals:  the Holland Tulip Festival.  We have combined this popular festival with a visit to magnificent Mackinac Island on a tour that explores the many attractions of the great state of Michigan.  We travel to Dearborn, MI today, our home for the evening.  Dinner is included this evening. (D)

Day 2: Rise and shine, have breakfast and then travel through the unique adventure of 300 years of American history captured within 254 acres of indoor and outdoor historical exhibits and shops at the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village.  Founded by Henry Ford in 1929, the museum and village depict the sweeping changes that transformed America into a dynamic industrial society.  The museum experience is complemented by a variety of historic structures, an operating saw mill, a pottery shop, glassmaking plant, steam-powered print shop and more.  NEW THIS YEAR: We will include the Ford Factory tour. Day 3:  Following breakfast at the hotel, we depart for our exciting dune buggy ride along the shores of Lake Saugatuck.  Next we will head to the Veldheer Tulip Gardens to see over two million tulips in bloom.  Dinner is included tonight along with an entertaining show, part of the Tulip time events in Holland.  (B, D)

Day 4:  We’ve included breakfast, we return to Holland to spend time at quaint Windmill Island, an authentic reproduction of a Dutch town with a lifestyle of 100 years ago.  We continue to Mackinac Island aboard the ferry and the luxurious Island House for two memorable nights.  Following a delicious dinner, enjoy free time strolling along the enchanting village streets.  (B, D)

Day 5: We enjoy breakfast at the Island House followed by a captivating guided tour of the island and Fort Mackinac on a horse-drawn carriage.  We visit the famous Grand Hotel and allow you free time to explore this world-famous structure.  Your afternoon is free to explore the shops and relax on the Island House porch with a favorite cocktail before dinner(B, D)

Day 6:  We depart Mackinac Island this morning and travel to Frankenmuth, known for its famous Christmas store. You will have time to explore and do lunch . Dinner will be on your own tonight when we get to our hotel.(B)

Day 7:  We begin our journey home filled with the memories of the beauty of spring, the Holland tulips and the charms of Mackinac Island.  We return home early evening.  (B)
