Walk in the steps of Forrest Gump in the Carolina Islands

Day 1: We depart this morning for the breathtaking views, Southern culture and, most especially, delicious seafood of South Carolina Islands. We stop for the night in Lumberton, North Carolina and dinner is on your own.
Day 2: Today we arrive in South Carolina in time to enjoy a Lowcountry Boil Lunch. The rest of the afternoon will be spent on Saint Helena Island beginning with a Hunting Island Dolphin Cruise. Your guide will deepen your understanding of the area's local islands and waterways while you spot dolphins, ospreys, pelicans and so much more. Next we head to Gay's Seafood Market and Shrimp Docks where Paramount purchased shrimp for the filming of Forrest Gump. Here you will learn how shrimp are caught, sorted, and readied for sale. Then we visit the delightful MacDonald Marketplace for some shopping that features local art and home décor. Finish the day with a relaxing dinner at a local restaurant. (B, L, D)
Day 3: After breakfast we will visit the Port Royal Maritime Center to view megalodon teeth, historic fossils and get up close and personal with live animals. Then recharge with a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Next we visit the Chocolate Tree made famous by providing the chocolates in Forrest Gump's box of chocolates! This evening, we head over to the Annual Beaufort Shrimp Festival. Savor the best fresh-caught shrimp in the world and try unique dishes from the region’s foremost restaurants and chefs. Enjoy dinner on your own and do not miss the Art's & Crafts Market. (B, L)
Day 4: This morning, meet your local guide and begin your tour of Lucy Creek, featured in several scenes with Forrest's shrimp boat. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local favorite restaurant and after enjoying all the festivities at the Beaufort Shrimp Festival. Tonight, you will dine with Forrest Gump himself. Relax at a local restaurant while a Forrest Gump Impersonator joins you and entertains you while you eat. (B, L, D)
Day 5: Today, you will spend the day in Savannah, GA. We begin at the Savannah History Museum, which showcases the city's history from 1773 to present day. Then explore Chippewa Square, located right in the center of everything and famous for the bench scenes from Forrest Gump. Lunch is on your own. Next hop aboard an Historic Trolley and listen while a conductor narrates the tour with trivia and humorous stories. Dinner at a local restaurant is included tonight. (B, D)
Day 6: After breakfast we depart the hotel and begin our journey home. We stop for the night in Ashland, Virginia. Dinner is on your own. (B)
Day 7: After breakfast at the hotel you continue north until you arrive home with wonderful memories of your recent Southern adventure. (B)
