Shenandoah Valley in the Springtime
May 19 - 21
3 Days, 2 Nights
Day 1: Travel through the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and enjoy the beauty of Spring. Our first stop will be the American Celebration on Parade Museum. Enjoy the pageantry of parade floats from famous national celebrations like the Rose Parade and many other familiar pageants. Following lunch, we visit Luray Caverns, America’s largest and most popular cavern. Marvel at the enormous chambers filled with towering stone columns, crystal-clear pools and its various formations. We will also have time to visit the Car and Carriage Museum, containing many vintage cars and even a Conestoga Wagon. We continue to the Natural Bridge Historic Hotel, our home for the next two nights. We relax over a fresh, locally sourced dinner in the hotel’s Colonial Dining room. (L ,D)
Day 2: Following breakfast, we visit the Natural Bridge State Park where we view the famous Natural Bridge stone landmark, towering 215 feet high and over 40 feet thick. We learn the cultural history and geology of the massive landmark on a guided tour as we wander along the Cedar Creek Trail. We later board our motorcoach to Lexington, where we enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride through the downtown area. You will have free time for lunch on your own and time to browse the shops. Next, we visit Virginia Safari Park and travel on a narrated wagon ride through the preserve featuring hundreds of free-roaming animals. We return to our hotel to relax over another delicious dinner. (B, D)
Day 3: We depart Natural Bridge this morning en route to Charlottesville and Monticello, the famous home of Thomas Jefferson. You will be amazed at the inventions of our third President at this architectural masterpiece. Our final stop is the Michie Tavern to enjoy a southern lunch at its finest. We return home early evening. (B, L)
